About Mongolia

Mongolia is a landlocked country in East and Central Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east and west. It is the 18th largest country in the world by area and has a population of around 3 million. The official language is Mongolian and the capital and largest city is Ulaanbaatar.

Mongolia is known for its vast, rugged expanses and nomadic culture. The country’s landscape is characterised by grassy steppes, deserts and mountain ranges. The Gobi Desert, one of the largest in the world, covers much of the southern part of the country. In the north, the Altai Mountains rise up, providing a stunning backdrop to the landscape.

Mongolia’s natural beauty makes it a paradise for lovers of minimalist photography. The country is full of beautifully undulating landscapes, solitary trees, yurts and majestic mountains. The wide open spaces and sparse population create a sense of solitude and tranquillity that is perfect for capturing minimalist, moody and contemplative photographs.

In addition to its natural beauty, Mongolia has a rich cultural heritage. The country was once the centre of the Mongol Empire, which at its height stretched from Europe to Asia. Today, Mongolia’s nomadic traditions are still very much alive, with many families living in traditional yurts and herding livestock across the steppes. Buddhism is also an important part of Mongolian culture, with many beautiful temples and monasteries dotting the landscape.

Mongolia is a fascinating country with a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.
