This photograph was created using an in-camera multiple exposure technique. Ten separate exposures were layered directly in the camera during shooting and merged into a single JPG file — not assembled later in postproduction.
The subject is a small twisted stem of wild vine, picked from a neighbour’s fence. Through ten overlapping exposures, the tangled curves of the stem build into something that no longer reads as a plant. The shape suggests a figure standing upright, one arm raised to shade the eyes, looking out into the distance.
The image was shot handheld, without a tripod. Small shifts between exposures were intentionally left uncorrected, keeping the lines slightly imperfect and the result more human than precise.
Printed in black and white, the photograph works through form and contrast rather than colour or detail. It suits spaces where the art is meant to quietly hold attention rather than demand it.
