This photograph was taken in Klánovice Forest on the outskirts of Prague, using the in-camera multiple exposure technique. The process involves pointing the camera at the subject, focusing, and then capturing several frames—in this case, nine exposures. Each previous exposure appears semi-transparent in the viewfinder, allowing me to deliberately shape the final composition as it builds.

Some might argue that the same effect could be achieved by photographing once and layering the images in post-processing. However, I believe that creating the multiple exposure directly in-camera at the moment of capture, combined with shooting handheld rather than from a tripod, introduces subtle imperfections and variations that make each photograph truly unique and unrepeatable. The slight shifts in position and perspective between exposures create an organic quality that’s difficult to replicate artificially.

The resulting image has a dreamlike, layered quality where the trees blend and overlap, creating an impressionistic interpretation of the forest that captures both its physical form and its atmosphere.
