This black-and-white photograph shows a delicate plant with a round, fuzzy seed head in the center, framed by two curved stems on either side. I created the image using multiple exposures directly in the camera. I took ten successive shots, using the semi-transparent preview in the viewfinder as a guide for positioning each new exposure.
Without a tripod or photo stacking, which would have ensured perfect—and perhaps overly sterile—precision, I aimed to give the photograph more humanity through its small imperfections. The high contrast between the dark plant and light background clearly defines the fine details of the stems and seed head. The simple arrangement, with ample empty space around the plant, gives the photo a calm, minimalist quality, allowing the viewer to focus on the subject’s natural structure and organic form.
