This photograph was created using an in-camera multiple exposure technique. Several exposures were layered directly in the camera during shooting and merged into a single file — not assembled later in postproduction.
The subject is a thin branch, moved through the frame during shooting. The repeated exposures don’t freeze a single moment — they record the arc of the movement itself. The result looks less like a photograph of an object and more like a diagram of how it travelled: a ribbon of parallel curves that the eye wants to follow from one edge of the frame to the other.
The image was shot handheld, without a tripod. The small imperfections between exposures are part of what makes the lines feel organic rather than mechanical — closer to a brushstroke than a technical drawing.
Printed in black and white, the photograph reduces everything to form and rhythm. The branch disappears. What remains is motion.”
