I arranged two dried Virginia creeper stems diagonally against a neutral grey background in my home studio. One is lighter and one darker. I collected them separately; their forms intertwine without touching.
I am drawn to dried plants because their remaining structure often suggests a gesture or figure. Some viewers see dancers or two people in conversation in this arrangement.
I used focus stacking to combine photographs made at different focus distances. Even at f/13, a single macro photograph would not retain detail across both stems. The warm grey background leaves their forms open to interpretation.
