Gran Zebrù – Beautiful Mountain of South Tyrol
This black and white photograph shows Mount Gran Zebrù, also called Königspitze. The photo was taken in Sulden, Italy, in February 2025.
What do we see in the photo? Mainly the north face of the mountain, where dark rock formations emerge through large areas of snow. The top of the mountain disappears into mist, creating a feeling of mystery and endless height. The mountain stands alone in the image – there’s nothing around it to distract our attention. It’s simply a mountain against an empty sky.
The photograph is very sharp and detailed, allowing you to see every ridge, crack, and snowdrift. It was taken with a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm lens at a focal length of 40mm.
The black and white processing emphasizes shapes and textures instead of colors. This helps you better appreciate the transitions between bright white snow, deep shadows, and the various shades of exposed rock.
Overall, the photograph captures the peaceful yet powerful essence of the Italian Alps in winter.
