One
Photographs exploring the silence and strength of a single element.
One is a collection of photographs built around the presence of a single visual element. Sometimes this element stands completely alone; in other images, it is accompanied by space, shadow, landscape or smaller surrounding forms. What connects the photographs is the feeling that one thing has become the centre of attention.
For me, the idea of “one” can suggest solitude, silence and separation, but also uniqueness, strength and quiet presence. A single tree, stone, plant, animal, object or human-made form can change the whole meaning of an image when everything around it becomes secondary.
I am interested in the moment when one element begins to carry more weight than its physical size. It may be small, fragile or almost lost in space, yet it holds the composition together. The photograph then becomes less about the subject itself and more about its presence.
This series is also connected to my interest in minimalism. By reducing the image to one main element, I try to create space for stillness, concentration and a slower way of looking.
