Selective focus, shallow depth of field, shades of gray, and detailed leaf structure – that’s what we can characterize this photo. But how did photography take? I took it in the woods near the town of Nachod in the Czech Republic when my family and I returned from a tour of old military bunkers. But don’t worry. I’m no military lover. At this interesting place, I found myself by accident. During our trip to Poland and Ukraine, we broke a car, and therefore we had to spend a total of two quite pleasant days in the East Bohemian town of Náchod.
But back to the photo. As usual, the others went ahead and I took pictures and took pictures of various details of the forest. The rays of the afternoon sun shone through the branches of trees and leaves of bushes. This created a wonderful play of lights and shadows. When I discovered three nearly identical leaves growing in a row, I knew there was potential for creating an interesting photo.
I tried different compositions, different focus points, different focal lengths, and different depths of field. Finally, the best option proved to be focal length 270mm (on the crop sensor), exposure time 1 / 60 s, aperture f5.6, and ISO 320. I took many dozens of photos but most of all, I was interested in this.
